Most of the pistols are moderately good for shooting enemies at a range, but only carry a certain amount of ammunition, compared to most assault rifles and other high-powered weapons. The tentacle bat also makes its debut here, and is about as grossly humorous as you might expect, as it makes a nice "thwack" noise when you hit people with it. Also here is the energy sword, a variation of the lightsaber that can easily cut down anyone who doesn't understand Jedi logic.
